Youth of the Year
The Youth of the Year program at Boys & Girls Club of Garfield is more than a competition; it’s a journey aligning with our mission to inspire and enable young people. This ongoing program offers both current members and former Club alumni, particularly those pursuing higher education, an extraordinary opportunity to develop and showcase their leadership qualities. Winners in the local contest phase earn a meaningful scholarship, embodying our commitment to nurturing responsible, caring citizens who are poised for success in college and beyond.
Eligibility
- Candidates must be no younger than 14 and no older than 18 as of January 31st, 2024.
- Candidates must have active and continuing membership in a Boys & Girls Club or affiliated Youth Center for at least two years prior to Jan. 31, 2024. Membership must be consecutive and may include more than one Club or organization.
*Please note: Due to COVID-19, we will make an exception on continuous and consecutive membership. As long as the candidate has been engaged for at least one year, they may apply.
How to Apply
To apply please request a Youth of the Year application and complete the linked Interest Form (Google Form).
If eligibility is determined based on the completed Google form, we will email you a Youth of the Year Application directly or arrange for you to pick up a printed copy.
The completed Youth of the Year application will be accepted until February 16th, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
